Job Description

Our client, a manufacturer in the Pinellas Park area, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team on a direct hire basis. This is a highly visible role that works closely with the Controller and leadership team, offering the opportunity to gain exposure to all facets of the accounting function while positioning yourself for future growth within the organization.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable rolling up their sleeves to support both the transactional and reporting sides of accounting. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys analyzing financial activity, improving processes, and serving as a key contributor to month-end close and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and balance sheet schedules
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports
  • Support cost accounting activities and assist with inventory-related accounting functions
  • Review and reconcile intercompany transactions across multiple entities
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and capital project tracking
  • Ensure capital expenditures comply with established approval processes and company policies
  • Process credit memos and other general ledger adjustments as needed
  • Consolidate financial data and assist with monthly reporting requirements for multiple business units
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns and assist with property tax reporting
  • Support internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation and preparing schedules
  • Assist with annual budget preparation, forecasting, and special financial projects
  • Investigate and resolve transaction posting discrepancies across AR, AP, inventory, and cash accounts
  • Provide backup support for key accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes
  • Assist with 1099 reporting, compliance requirements, and other year-end accounting activities
  • Support cash management initiatives, banking transactions, ACH and wire setup activities
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and upcoming system enhancement projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Knowledge of fixed assets, cost accounting, and intercompany accounting preferred
  • Experience supporting audits, tax filings, and compliance-related activities
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • ERP system experience required
  • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
